Instructions For Invisalign Braces

Each Invisalign package contains a set of two aligners: one upper aligner and one lower aligner.

  1. Each set of aligners are to be worn twenty two hours per day, for a total of two weeks before progressing to the next aligner.
  2. Start your invisalign braces treatment (wear aligner #1) at the end of your evening, after brushing & flossing your teeth, directly before going to bed. All subsequent aligners will be changed at the same time that is directly before going to bed.  (Changing your aligners at the end of your evening, before going to bed ensures six to eight hours of continuous placement without removal. Moreover, minimal or no initial discomfort willl be felt as you will be asleep.)
  3. Place the upper aligner on your upper teeth and the lower aligner on your lower teeth. Apply pressure with your thumb and fore finger to ensure the aligner sits down over the teeth.
  4. Only remove your aligners to: brush & floss your teeth, eat food, and drink any colored beverages. Place your aligners in the enclosed blue or red box when you are not wearing them. Removing the aligners can be challenging at first. Patience is a virtue…
  5. ALIGNERS SHOULD BE REMOVED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:
    1. ALWAYS START FROM THE VERY BACK AND WORK YOUR WAY FORWARD. ALWAYS START BY LIFTING THE ALIGNER FROM THE INSIDE PART (TONGUE SIDE) OF THE BACK TEETH.
    2. Once the aligner is lifted off the back most teeth (from both the right and left sides), continue removing in a forward motion until you reach the front two (2) teeth.

Tips on keeping your Invisalign Braces aligners fresh & clean:

  1. Brush the inside of your aligners using toothpaste (a pea sized amount), and a separate tooth brush.
  2. Use (1) teaspoon of baking soda on a damp gauze to clean the outside of your aligners.
  3. Dissolve a denture cleaning tablet in water and submerge your aligners for several minutes. (This may be done after wearing aligners for four (4) to five (5) days.
